Finished laminating first main hull half

Categories: Main Hull

Was able to come home for a few days this weekend and at the last minute had some time to head down to the shop and see what could be done.  Thanks to dad’s efforts bogging and sanding, we were able to do some minor prep-work and then get to laminating the remainder of the inner skin.

Here I am wetting out the deck area.  It was real nerve-racking a few times trying to find a place to step that my weight wouldn’t just push through while at the same time not plopping myself in a puddle of epoxy.  I spent almost the entire time hunched inside the hull half while dad kept mixing more epoxy for me to spread out.  I decided to give him a break from mixing to take this picture showing me doing actual work 🙂

We got everything wet out and all extra reinforcements added in this one session.

Unfortunately I’m going to be MIA again for the next week or so (back to the Bay Area for work) – so I won’t be able to do anything.  Maybe dad’s schedule will allow him to sand down to the deck batten and start setting up alignment jigs for bulkheads…  We shall see.
