I feel accomplished today. The starboard float is sitting in the garage drying right now. Will only need to hit it with the sander to clean up the keel at the transom and two areas of the bow, and then will be ready to fair.
Started out by flipping the float to the other side and sanding all along the keel where we left it long. Had to make certain to get all the dry areas off.
Was this the best way to do it? Well, with all my many years of fiberglass boat-building experience, I can truthfully say I have no idea! 🙂 What I can say is that it seemed to come out ok.
Once it was all cleaned up, we rolled some more fabric into place and trimmed to fit.
I took the opportunity to snap a picture during a glove-changing break
Dad had to leave part-way through the laminating fun to go play a concert, so that left me to finish up the job. Fortunately we made a big dent in it already and I really only needed to do the keel, bow and side near the transom. No other pictures here for obvious reasons.
Here’s a shot once completed
Looking at the keel – I trimmed to the length I wanted for this side and made sure to wet out all the way. Some stray fabrics to get trimmed up once dry, but everything looks fine… And yes, the picture is upside-down. sorry.
