EDIT – 01/23/07 – Added picture from camera phone
Dad’s been busy the past week in his spare time. I showed up last night to an almost-planked float half – which left me time to Dremel out the gaps between the planks and bog them together while he planked the last two sheets. Spent maybe an hour doing this, which included talking and still occasionally admiring the joined stbd. float.
The fourth and final float half is about an hour away from laminating the inner skin. The keel foam needs to be bogged into place and a few areas on each plank need bog where we still had wood/screws holding them from the top on the extreme curves. Assuming all dries quickly (or he has free time during the week to bog and quick-sand the foam) – should be able to laminate this last half next time I go down to work on it.
I can actually visualize both floats being joined sometime in the middle of February, though I’m not going to set any time-frames, as sometimes Life Happens 🙂 But as long as something gets done, then we can see progress taking place. I would like to set a goal of the floats being completed and placed into the storage unit by mid-year, and that might be attainable, but I’m not going to put anything in stone until it gets closer to happening – this is supposed to be fun, and hopefully will remain that way.
I will say that I’m not looking forward to fairing the outside of things after they are glassed – the float looks massive now that it’s joined 🙂
