What an exciting morning!
Dad busted his arse Saturday taking out all the screws and making sure the hull was free from the battens. I got there this morning at around 09.30am and he and our friend Fred were already there discussing how to make this all happen.
Within a few moments we had some straps from the ceiling attaching to the forward and aft beam bulkheads and began to heave ……
Due to limited space, we could not get the hull high enough to get a driver in everywhere to disassemble the mold and frames like we anticipated. Plan “B” was developed quickly. We made template jigs out of 2×4’s on frames 2-8 to make sure they would line up properly next time. We then took a jig-saw and cut off the deck side of each of those frames so we could pivot the hull out of the garage.
A few moments later we had it outside to pose for pictures……
Two happy builders…..
Thanks for the help, Fred!
Here are a few more random pictures….
And taking apart the mold….
Whew… And to think, we had the hull outside before 11am! I was expecting things to take forever, but going to “Plan B” sped it up a ton….
