Update – when dad got back home from band rehearsal he somehow managed to guilt me into working through the sick and laminating the port side of the deck. Did not take an updated picture, however.. Just use your imagination and pretend the pictures below have peel-ply over the port side now… 😉
We were going to try and fiberglass the port side of the hull this evening but allergies have me feeling sick all day. We did some clean-up on the job last night after removing the peel-ply and the results look very good.
Here is where the anchor well will get cut out once we’re finished laminating the deck.
Here you can see the HD foam for the jib track and winch.
Took the sheets of foam we bogged together and traced the outline of the rudder. Took a few extra minutes to increase the angle of the top of the rudder blank to match the option in making the cassette for those who chose the aft-cabin.
Having the middle sheet set back an inch really helped, as I only had to route out foam where the profile starts to get narrow.
We also spent some time with the saw to clean up the HD inserts before bogging them in place. I still find it funny that the 3⁄8″ A1200 foam is just slightly thicker than the 3⁄8″ A500 foam. Also bogged the trailing edge of the rudder where it was routed out.
Finally, traced and rough-cut the HD foam for the daggerboard (amazing how much thickness this has compared to the rudder!)
