Frames set up for starboard half

What a surprisingly hot weekend! We got all the frames reversed, braced, plummed and installed battens… whew! 2454 2461 After the two of us got the frames swapped and plummed, dad started putting the battens in while I built the mold for the rudder gudgeons. For reference, 66grams of epoxy in 95 degree weather gets a little hot… 🙂 2458 I THINK it will be okay, but won’t know until I trim it down to size.

Port hull half out of the garage!

What an exciting morning! Dad busted his arse Saturday taking out all the screws and making sure the hull was free from the battens. I got there this morning at around 09.30am and he and our friend Fred were already there discussing how to make this all happen. Within a few moments we had some straps from the ceiling attaching to the forward and aft beam bulkheads and began to heave ……

Almost ready to come out of the mold!

How exciting! We’re planning on spending this coming Sunday (May 4th, 2008) taking the first main hull half out of the mold. I can hardly wait. Only things left to finish up before taking out: Take out a few hundred screws Sand/Grind the last few patch spots Sand/Grind some tape edges Tape the under-side of the aft cabin bunk I’m guessing it’s going to be an all-day ordeal Sunday, since we’ll have to hoist the boat up a few feet and then take down the form-frames to make room to get it out of the garage.
